Scandinavian style heater for my art studio!

When I think back on my days working in an office, what comes to mind is how cold it was all the time. It reached a point where I would come in wearing a jacket — and never take it off! I told myself that if I ever worked from home, I’d keep my space at a comfortable temperature, which is a great promise to make to yourself until you remember you’re the one paying the heating bill. This fall, I visited Perspire Sauna Studio in Providence Park in south Charlotte with hopes of creating my own routine here in my home city. According to the website, Perspire strives to bring the benefits of infrared sauna studios to Charlotte and other communities in a friendly, comfortable, spa-like atmosphere. This modern nature retreat was designed by David Van Galen Architecture, located just 25 miles northwest of Seattle across Puget Sound on Whidbey Island, Washington.Nestled among the thick Douglas Firs and Alders, this dwelling featured high ceilings and expansive glazing to enhance natural light into the space while enabling the inhabitants to be part of the natural surroundings. If there’s one thing I’ve always wanted since I was a kid, it’s a fireplace. The possibility of Santa shuffling down the shaft on Christmas Eve or telling Christmas stories by the open fire was always high on my list. But my mother was always terrified of introducing an open flame into our home; living with five children makes that an automatic no. An electric fireplace would have been ... 2022.01.22 13:51 Dat_Lamp_Doe New to DS2 from DS1

Hey y’all! I just finished DS Remastered, and started playing Dark Souls 2. So far, I’m really liking this game, but man am I really struggling big time. I figured out DS1 after a while, but I feel like I am not understanding DS2 yet. I am at the Cardinal Tower bonfire, so I’ve been playing for not super long, but man have I died to the enemies around here so many times. What do you guys think are the mechanical/gameplay meta changes I am not understanding yet? Feel like there is a lot more fighting multiple enemies in this game, and you get staggered and combo’d way more than DS1

2022.01.22 13:51 frogband got offered a job as a clinical services support assistant at a pharmacy

I need a job for money but also would like it to be something that could strengthen my med school app in the long run. I got offered a job as a clinical services support assistant and it pays fairly well especially considering my schedule. The pharmacy also has a pharmacy tech training program that they fully pay for and I'm interested in that but haven't asked about any details. Should I go for it? Or will my efforts be better spent elsewhere?

2022.01.22 13:51 vorpal-blade Pause to change filament timeout and cooldown problems

I have Octoprint connected to my Mk3s via a USB cable. And i have a filament runout sensor connected to the Pi. When the sensor sees the end of the filament it pauses the print and moves the printhead off to a rest position. My problem is that within a few minutes it shuts down the temperatures and cools off. This causes fails! How can i pause with Octoprint such that it will maintain the bed temp indefinitely?

2022.01.22 13:51 weblist Thay

Thay was not my teacher...last evening in the Zendo of my Sangha, we had a ceremony for him and we chanted The Great Compassion Dharani and each student offered incense. During my incense offering, it hit me that Thay was my teacher too the entire time, even though I have never attended his dharma talk — I regard him as a great dharma teacher — especially in the past four months or so that I would listened to one or two of his Dharma talks when I walked my friend's dog.
I have never heard him explaining the meaning of his name...to anyone who doesn't know yet, I would like to share with you, that his name means One Practice (in Chinese); or you could interpret it as One Activity.
Thích is his Dharma Surname; it is a surname used by all monks and nuns in Chinese Buddhism, regardless of their lineages, apparently it is for Vietnamese too , and Nhất Hạnh means One Practice. So Thích Nhất Hạnh is 釋一行. 釋 as Dharma Surname was first adopted by a Chinese monk during South-North Kingdom which was pre-Tang Dynasty. It is a translieration for the first sound of Shakyamuni, Sha.
The word, 行, is an important word in the Buddha’s teachings and a great vow for all Boddhisattvas, for without this one practice, Karuna and Prajna wouldn’t be possible; I feel that it is often not emphasize by westner Dharma’s practitioners.
行願 is the great vow of Samantabhadra.

2022.01.22 13:51 NovelTalk_0711 Birthday Girl

I love a good age gap, and I have seen so many rave reviews about Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. The blurb is kind of weirding me out though. The whole boyfriend’s dad thing is a little eh for me. Can someone tell my why it gets such rave reviews or how Douglas makes that less eh? I don’t want to get it and then be so disappointed, but I also don’t want to miss out on a great read!

2022.01.22 13:51 NeverQuietConor Issues sprinting on Vanguard PS5 version 1.010.000

Is anyone else having an issue sprinting in Vanguard recently? Seems to be so temperamental where sprinting is being stopped after only 1 or 2 steps. My perks aren’t making any difference with this and the PS5 pad is working fine on other games’ sprint function.

2022.01.22 13:51 Common_Day_2302 Keyboard and Mouse input fail when running QEMU in Debian but work with Ubuntu.

EDIT: To be clear, I am not running Debian as a VM. I have a Debian hard install. I am running QEMU on this hard install to emulate a toy OS kernel I'm developing.
So, I'm currently following a Udemy tutorial to make write a simple 32-bit OS. In the most recent video, the presenter implements basic keyboard and mouse inputs, but I noticed that my modified version of his code wasn't responding to mouse or keyboard inputs. Puzzled, I copied his code verbatim and tried to run it. (Here's his exact code, you can just make && make run after editing the qemu command to match your OS; in my case (Debian), I'm using qemu-system-x86_64 -drive format=raw,file=os.img). I found that his code, which worked fine in the presenter's video, didn't accept mouse or keyboard inputs when I ran it on my debian machine.
I ended up getting a friend, who runs Ubuntu, to test it out for me. It worked fine on my friend's machine, so I decided to test whether the issue came down to my system or my hardware. I installed an Ubuntu VM, and ran the kernel inside of that VM (QEMUception). To my surprise, keyboard and mouse inputs worked perfectly.
This leads me to conclude that the issue is either with my settings/configuration of QEMU or with Debian. Thusfar, I have tried adding the -device usb-mouse flags to QEMU. This does not fix the issue (it gives a qemu-system-x86_64: -device usb-mouse: No 'usb-bus' bus found for device 'usb-mouse'error), although I should note that the issue exists both with my laptop's built in touchpad and my USB mouse. (In any case, both function fine when running QEMU in Ubuntu, without the flag).
What should I try to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for any help you might offer.
